You will learn the basics of winter living: how to move, cook, stay warm, and rest in tune with the rhythm of winter.

Näsets Marcusgård is hosted by Mireille and Willem, passionate about aesthetics and the tranquility of nature.

Winter Living includes one night in the warm and thoughtfully decorated Fähus upon arrival, one night in a winter camp in the forest behind Näsets Marcusgård, and a final night in Supermåne or Oddis Öga.


Throughout your stay, half-board is included, focusing on vegetarian meals prepared with care and local ingredients, with the option to choose locally and ethically produced meat.

You’ll have access to all the essential equipment for winter living, personal guidance from a certified nature guide, a wilderness sauna, and our signature experiences Stars Above the Forest and Echoes of the Forest. Bed linen, towels, and bathrobes are included, as is an optional round-trip transfer from Rättvik.

Sample Itinerary


Friday – A Warm Welcome

Arrival at Näsets Marcusgård between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM(self-arrival or transfer from Rättvik train station).


After settling in, we gather for a shared welcome dinner in the cozy Fähus. During the evening, we introduce the weekend, go through equipment and safety, and answer any questions about winter clothing and camping.

For those who wish, the evening ends with a warming sauna before a restful night indoors.

Saturday – Living Beautifully in the Cold

After breakfast, we begin with a hands-on workshop covering the essentials of winter living: layering, staying warm, fire-making, and moving safely through snowy landscapes.


We then set out on a guided snowshoe walkthrough the forest and build our winter camp together. Lunch and dinner are prepared over an open fire as we enjoy the quiet rhythm of the day.

As darkness falls, we gather for Stars Above the Forest— a peaceful evening of stargazing with blankets and hot drinks before crawling into warm sleeping bags in the winter tent.

Sunday – Back to Warmth

We wake slowly to the smell of campfire coffee and breakfast outdoors. Before leaving camp, we experience Echoes of the Forest— a quiet moment in the large forest hammock, listening to the sounds of the woods and simply being present.


We walk back to Näsets Marcusgård, where the sauna awaits for anyone who wishes to warm up. The retreat ends with a shared brunch before departure or transfer back to Rättvik.

Do I need experience with winter camping?


No, not at all. Vinterliv is designed for both beginners and those with some experience in the outdoors. Over the course of the weekend, you’ll learn the basics of winter camping at a leisurely pace alongside a certified nature guide.


Do you get cold when sleeping in a tent?


No. You’ll be provided with winter-ready gear, including a warm sleeping bag, a sleeping pad, and a tent with a stove. We’ll also go over how to dress and stay warm so you can feel safe and sleep soundly.


How far is it to the winter camp?


The winter camp is located just about 100 meters from Näsets Marcusgård. You’ll feel like you’re right in the middle of nature, while help is always close by if needed.


What do I need to bring?


You’ll mainly need warm clothes and personal belongings. All equipment for the winter camp—such as snowshoes, a winter tent, a sleeping bag, a sleeping pad, and cooking gear—is included. You’ll receive a complete packing list well in advance of departure.


Do I have to hand in my phone?

Yes. Vinterliv is designed as a true digital retreat. At the beginning of the experience, all participants leave their phones in safe storage, where they remain until the retreat ends.

Stepping away from screens creates space to slow down, be fully present, and reconnect with nature, yourself, and the people around you.


Will I receive photos from the retreat?

Yes. Your guide documents the experience with professional photographs, allowing you to stay fully present throughout the retreat.

After your stay, you'll receive a curated photo collection at no extra cost—a lasting reminder of your time in the forest.


I’m a vegetarian—is that okay?


Absolutely. Our meals are primarily vegetarian and are carefully prepared using seasonal ingredients. For those who wish, there is sometimes the option to choose locally and ethically produced

Itinerary Overview (5 Days / 4 Nights)Day 1 – Arrival | A Warm Welcome

Transfer from Rättvikto Näsets Marcusgård (included). Settle in and enjoy a welcome dinner in the cozy Fähus, followed by an introduction to the retreat. Meet your guide, Daniel from Särna Adventures, for an equipment check and safety briefing before your first night indoors.

Day 2 – Into the Snow

After breakfast, you'll take part in a hands-on workshop covering winter movement, layering, fire-making and essential winter living skills. We then head out on a guided snowshoe hike through Näsets' private forest to build our winter camp together.

Dinner is prepared over an open fire before gathering for Stars Above the Forest—an evening of stargazing with warm blankets, binoculars and hot drinks.

Day 3 – Return to Warmth

Wake up to freshly brewed campfire coffee before experiencing Echoes of the Forest—a quiet morning of relaxation in the giant forest hammock, listening to the sounds of the woods.

We return to Näsets Marcusgård for lunch, followed by a wilderness sauna, time to rest, and relaxed storytelling in the warmth of the Fähus.

Day 4 – Reflection & Scandinavian Comfort

Enjoy a slow breakfast and time to reflect on your winter journey. The day is yours to enjoy at your own pace—perhaps a short snowshoe walk, journaling, photography, or simply unwinding in the peaceful surroundings.

In the evening, we gather for a farewell dinner before spending your final night in your choice of Oddis Öga, Supermåne, or Fähus.


Day 5 – Farewell

Enjoy a final breakfast together before a gentle closing of the retreat. Transfer back to Rättvikis included.
